My path to mindfulness teaching has involved a rich and varied combination of professional and personal experience. I had a long career in academic research, working with a range of organisations (e.g. Home Office, Ministry of Justice, Probation Service, Prison Service) to evaluate their services and improve support for vulnerable people. My desire for a more direct and personal way to positively impact people’s lives led to me training as an Integrative Psychotherapist and I have run a thriving psychotherapy private practice for the past 7 years.
I’ve practiced mindfulness and meditation for the past 20 years and have found it to be immeasurably helpful in dealing with the various challenges and trauma I’ve faced. My passionate belief in mindfulness as the most effective route to living a more peaceful and fulfilling life led me to complete the Mindfulness Now teacher training course and to set up Find Your Peace.
During the course of my working life I’ve also had the pleasure of working as a University Lecturer and as a Course Tutor at S.P.A.C.E: The Academy (Sheffield Psychotherapy and Counselling Education), as well as working as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor for University students. In my own life, I make peace of mind my priority and arrange my time accordingly. I enjoy the simple things: my family and friends, my dog, being in nature, art and music.
I’m grateful to have a ‘job’ which doesn’t feel like work and to have opportunities to help people overcome difficulties and live happier and healthier lives. Please take a look at the final section of the About page if you would like to know more about the qualifications I hold.
